kullanma işlemi yerel saatle 06.00’da başladı. Seçimlerde halk, biri kendi seçim bölgelerindeki adaylar, diğeri de ulusal parti listeleri olmak üzere iki oy kullanıyor. Seçim sistemi kapsamında Macaristan Ulusal Meclisindeki 199 sandalyenin 106’sı dar bölgelerde en fazla oyu alan adaylara, 93’ü ise ulusal parti listelerine göre dağıtılıyor. Genel seçimlerde 16 yıldır iktidarda bulunan Başbakan Viktor Orban liderliğindeki Macar Yurttaş Birliği Partisi (Fidesz) ile Peter Magyar liderliğindeki Saygı ve Özgürlük Partisi (Tisza) yarışıyor. Anketlerin çoğu, yarışta Magyar liderliğindeki Tisza’nın önde olduğunu gösterirken kararsız seçmen oranının yüksek olması, sonuçların belirsizliğini koruduğuna işaret ediyor. Macaristan’da meclise girebilmek için partilerin ulusal listede en az yüzde 5 oy almaları gerekiyor. İki partinin ortak listeyle seçime girmesi durumunda bu oran yüzde 10’a, üç veya daha fazla partinin oluşturduğu listelerde ise yüzde 15’e yükseliyor. Seçim sonuçlarına göre meclisteki en az 100 milletvekiline ulaşan parti veya liste, hükümeti kurabilecek. Yurt dışında yaşayan ve ikamet adresi Macaristan'da olmayan vatandaşlar, sadece ulusal parti listeleri için oy kullanabilirken ülkede ikamet eden seçmenler hem kendi seçim bölgelerindeki adaylara hem de ulusal parti listelerine oy verebiliyor. Oy verme işlemi yerel saatle 19.00’a kadar sürecek. Oy verme işleminin tamamlanmasının ardından ilk sonuçların açıklanacağı tahmin ediliyor. Sonuçların yalnızca ülkenin iç siyaseti değil Avrupa Birliği’nin siyasi dengeleri açısından da belirleyici olacağı belirtiliyor.
