The northbound carriageway is closed between junction 11 (Gloucester) and junction 9 (Tewkesbury) following a serious collision on Tuesday morning. A biker is believed to have been involved in the crash and to have suffered potentially serious injuries, Gloucestershire Live reports. National Highways said the stretch of motorway is expected to be closed for a number of hours after the crash. Traffic monitoring site Inrix reported the crash at 10.10am. It said: "All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M5 Northbound from J10 A4019 (Cheltenham) to J9 A46 (Tewkesbury)."
