Lottery winner misses out after failing to claim £1million prize

A lottery winner has missed out after failing to come forward and claim their prize in time. Despite widespread coverage of the approaching deadline, Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery , has announced that no valid claim was made for the £1million EuroMillions Millionaire Maker prize from a ticket bought in the Unitary Authority of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area, for the draw on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The deadline for the ticket-holder to claim their prize was at midnight on Sunday, May 3, 180 days from the day of the draw and as a result, the prize, and any interest earned, will now be passed on to benefit National Lottery-funded projects. Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, said: “Despite an extensive search for the mystery millionaire, I can confirm that the ticket-holder did not come forward to claim their EuroMillions prize and has unfortunately missed out on this life-changing sum of money. “However, the money will now benefit Good Causes and add to the £33M raised each week for National Lottery-funded projects, several of which can be found in surrounding the Bournemouth area.” EuroMillions was launched on February 7, 2004, by France's Française des Jeux, Spain's Loterías y Apuestas del Estado, and the UK's Camelot group, with the first draw occurring on February 13, 2004, in Paris. Originally involving only three nations, it expanded in October 2004 to include Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Switzerland. A second weekly draw started in 2011 with the number of lucky starsd increased to 12 in 2012. The maximum jackpot is capped (currently at €250 million).When reached, that money flows into the lower prize tiers.
