By MARJORIE HERNANDEZ, US WEST COAST NEWS EDITOR and NEIL BLINCOW Published: 18:45, 11 June 2026 | Updated: 18:45, 11 June 2026 The lone dissenting juror in Rebecca Grossman's punitive damages case has revealed that just a few thousand dollars separated her from the rest of the 12-person panel. Juror No. 2, who also served as the foreperson and did not want to be identified, was the only member of the jury who disagreed with Wednesday's punitive damages award ordering Grossman and ex-lover Scott Erickson to pay a combined $22 million to the family of murdered Mark and Jacob Iskander.  But speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail after the verdict, she revealed that there were no huge arguments among them, and that her disagreement was centered on the amount of money awards – not on whether Grossman and Erickson were responsible.  'Based on the evidence that we saw and what we could tie to, I feel like we did the best job we could,' she said. 'I feel good about where we landed.'  The Los Angeles jury awarded $21 million in punitive damages against socialite Grossman, 64, and a further $1.17 million against ex-MLB pitcher Erickson, 58.  But the juror explained that she believed Grossman should have been ordered to pay roughly $1 million less than the figure ultimately adopted by the jury and that Erickson's punishment should've been reduced by approximately $200,000.  The verdict brought the total civil judgment against Grossman and Erickson to nearly $199 million after jurors previously awarded $176 million in compensatory damages to the boys' parents, Nancy and Karim Iskander.  Juror 2 said the panel carefully examined the defendants' conduct before, during and and after the September 2020 crash that killed Mark, 11, and eight-year-old Jacob as they crossed a street in Westlake Village with their family.  Scott Erickson and former lover Rebecca Grossman have been ordered to pay a total of $199 million in damages to the Iskander family after a jury awarded $22 million in punitive damages against the two in court on Wednesday  The final verdict is the culmination of the eight-week wrongful death trial brought by Nancy and Karim Iskander over the deaths of sons Mark, 11, and Jacob, 8, who were struck and killed while crossing a street in Westlake Village in September 2020  For Grossman, jurors considered her actions leading up to the collision, the events of that night and her conduct in its aftermath.  As for Erickson, the jurors considered his alleged 'trickery and deceit' after the incident and leading up to the trial. She also said they unanimously believed Grossman was impaired at the time of the crash and both Grossman and her former lover Erickson were indeed racing. 'This was based on the timing of the cars, the video, the witnesses who saw them going up,' she said.  'We actually broke it down by mileage from the restaurant, and the timing of the check-in, all of that just. So, for those points, we were all unanimous.  'We thought the evidence that was presented during the trial was clear and convincing, that they were working in concert and racing.' She said the trial impacted all the jurors deeply, but they all 'checked their emotions at the door' during their deliberation. When asked what message she would like to give the Iskanders, Juror 2 said: 'I would probably say, I cannot imagine what you are going through.'  Karim and Nancy Iskander were seeking nearly half a billion dollars in damages for the loss of their two boys Brian Panish, the Iskanders' attorney, said there should be no congratulations or high-fiving after the verdict. 'I want to let them know that we did the best we could, given evidence, to give them a fair compensation for their loss. They are a very close and supportive family.  'We know it won't bring their two children back, but this is what we could do so they could get compensated for their tragic loss.' Following the verdict, Nancy and Karim Iskander released an emotional statement thanking the jury and supporters who have stood beside them since their sons' deaths nearly six years ago. 'To all of you who have loved us, Mark, and Jacob, and who have stood by our family from the very beginning — we are deeply grateful.  'Today we thank you, and we thank the jury for delivering the punitive damages verdict today, along with the previous wrongful death verdict,' they said. 'We are especially thankful that the jury saw the truth and delivered justice with clarity and courage, guided by the outstanding work of the wonderful Brian Panish. The grieving parents acknowledged that appeals are expected and that they may never collect the full judgment, but said the trial achieved something equally important. 'What matters most to us now is that the perpetrators are finally beginning to show signs of accepting accountability, and that through this trial, many more people have had the chance to meet Mark and Jacob – to learn who they truly were and the light they brought into this world.' Grossman and Erickson were photographed attending a fundraising event in 2020 shortly before the accident. Erickson was charged with misdemeanor reckless driving and his criminal case was resolved in February 2022 Grossman's Mercedes is pictured after the smash. She kept on driving, despite the obvious damage caused to the car after she struck the boys, her trial heard  The statement concluded with a message to their sons: 'Sleep tight Mark and Jacob. We love you.' After the decision on Wednesday, another juror told the Daily Mail there was no huge disagreement during deliberations. She said the parents' attorneys 'proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt that the parents were honest'. 'The other side were not willing to take any responsibility. It was very emotional seeing Mrs Iskander crying on the stand,' said the juror.  'Imagine her loss! Even if you are not a mother, this was so tragic.'  The verdict was the second blow of the day for Rebecca Grossman.  Just hours earlier the California Supreme Court decided it would not hear her appeal against her criminal conviction for murder. Grossman is currently serving 15 years to life in prison over the 2020 crash, after she was found guilty at her 2024 trial Erickson, a former World Series winner, had vehemently denied any responsibility for the horrific pile-up for which his former lover, Rebecca Grossman is serving at least 15 years in prison The punitive damages ruling comes days after testimony revealed starkly different financial pictures for the two defendants following the $176 million award of the compensatory damages.  Lawyers for Grossman, who is married to renowned Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr Peter Grossman, claimed his client works for charity for no pay and 'had not earned income for many years before the accident.'  Meanwhile, Erickson's attorney, Jeff Braun, told the jury last Thursday that the World Series-winning pitcher's ability to pay was limited to his current assets which amount to $9,000 in his bank account, $242,000 in an investment account, $804,000 in a pro baseball retirement account – from which he receives $13,000 monthly – plus $100,000 equity in the Las Vegas condo where he lives.  But when questioned by Panish last Friday, he confessed that in 2021, he invested $250,000 in his best friend, sports agent Rick Thurman's company Perfect Game, 'in anticipation of it becoming a billion dollar concern.'  The accident occurred while the Grossmans were temporarily separated and Rebecca was having an affair with the MLB All Star.  Unlike his former lover, Erickson was only charged with misdemeanor reckless driving in the case and his criminal case was resolved in February 2022.  The verdict marks the culmination of an eight-week wrongful death trial that revisited the tragic fatal crash at the hands of Grossman, who is now serving 15 years to life in prison after being convicted in a 2024 criminal trial.  'It's been almost six years and it's been a tremendous journey. There are no winners in this case and there is no high fiving and no congratulations,' Panish told the Daily Mail after the hearing Wednesday.  'My clients are going to live with this tragedy for the rest of their lives. 'They are satisfied and pleased that the jury agreed with them on the tremendous loss they've had,' Panish added. No comments have so far been submitted.
