Among those taking on the challenge will be two dads whose daughters, Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, were tragically killed in the Southport attack in July 2024. Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe have told how they have become like "brothers" as they prepared for the event. Meanwhile, aiming to raise money for motor neurone disease will be Pride of Britain’s Matt Cox, 46, who is taking part in a wheelchair after being diagnosed with the illness last year. There will also be many celebrities among the runners, including Arsenal footballer Tony Adams, retired Formula One driver Sebastian Vettel, pop star Alexandra Burke and comedian John Robins. The final five miles of the course go through The Highway, Tower Hill and Victoria Embankment before reaching Parliament Square at mile 25. London crowds in these final miles provide the vital boost runners need to make it to the world-famous finish line on The Mall, with celebrations waiting beyond it. Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe both ran the marathon separately last year in memory of their daughters - but this time they are running alongside each other as friends. Alice Da Silva Aguiar, nine, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, died alongside Bebe King, six, in July 2024 when they were attacked at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop. Sergio said running the 26.2 miles alongside David was “very important” to him as he was “like a brother”. David said: “I feel the same.
