Lindsay Clancy, 35, is accused of murdering her three children, Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan, at her home in Duxbury in January 2023. Although Clancy does not deny killing her children, she has pleaded not guilty and claimed she is not responsible for her actions because she was suffering postpartum psychosis. Clancy's closest friends have stood by her, describing her as 'normal middle-class woman' who became sick.  Her ex-husband, Patrick Clancy, took the stand on Monday and often became overwhelmed with emotion while talking about his children and what their life was like before the killings.  The court adjourned shortly after he began to describe his final moments in the house before he left to pick up the takeout food that Clancy had ordered that day. When Patrick returned, Clancy had strangled the children with exercise bands, then used multiple methods to try to end her own life. Court was not in session on Tuesday and resumed today at the Plymouth Superior courthouse. Jurors are likely to hear Patrick’s harrowing 911 call, which he fought to have kept out of the public eye and will only be played for those inside the courtroom. 'We were always laughing about something stupid and having fun,' one friend told New York Post. Another said: 'I just want there to be truth put out about her, since everything so far has been painting her like a monster. 'That’s been awful to witness as someone who has looked up to Lindsay for so many years. The system failed her, and she doesn’t deserve what happened. Her family didn’t deserve to be ripped apart. And I truly believe this tragedy could have been prevented had she received the proper care.' Patrick Clancy was called by the stand at the start of the trial on Tuesday. Lindsay Clancy arrived in court wearing a pale blue shirt with her hair in long dark waves for the second day of her murder trial. Court resumed shortly after 9am, and the judge greeted Clancy by saying, 'Good morning.' She replied, 'Good morning, Your Honor.' The judge then promptly ordered a sidebar with the attorneys. Prosecutors played evidence of Patrick and Lindsay Clancy with their children in the days leading up to their 2023 killings on Monday. A video was shown to the court from Cora's birthday party on January 7. Then the prosecution displayed pictures and videos of the family visiting a water park on January 15. A judge granted Patrick Clancy's request to have his 911 call and his children's autopsies out of the public during his ex-wife's murder trial. Lindsay Clancy's murder trial opened on Monday with the defense and the prosecution presenting vastly different descriptions of Clancy and her actions on the day she killed her children. The prosecution argued the killings were intentional and well planned, while Clancy's lawyers claimed she was suffering a mental health crisis. In his opening statements, Clancy's defense attorney, Kevin Reddington, described her as a loving mother who struggled with mental illness. He displayed graphic images of Clancy's injuries to push back on the state's previous comments that it was a 'fake suicide attempt.' However, the prosecution used its opening statement to argue that Clancy was not suffering psychosis when she killed her children. Patrick Clancy is set to return to the stand today, picking up on his harrowing testimony about the day his children were murdered. He was the first witness called to the stand on Monday, during which he often became overwhelmed with emotion when talking about his children. 'Cora was into princesses. She had a lot of friends. She just liked taking care of people,' he said while becoming choked up and breathing heavily. Speaking about Dawson, the grieving father said: 'He was into firefighters and trucks. He liked Paw Patrol.' When asked to describe eight-month-old Callan, he said: 'He was a happy baby.' As Patrick spoke, his ex-wife grabbed a tissue and covered her face with her hair. On the stand, Patrick then described his final moments in the house before he left to pick up the takeout food that Clancy had ordered on the day of the murders. 'I came upstairs, I took Callan for a minute. I rocked him by my knees, kissed Cora on the head, and I said I'll be right back,' Patrick said. He said Dawson was eating chicken nuggets on the couch when he left. When Patrick returned from collecting the food, Clancy had strangled the children with exercise bands, then used multiple methods to try to end her own life. It was the first time the two had come face-to-face since Lindsay strangled five-year-old Cora, four-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan with exercise resistance bands in the basement of the family's home in the affluent coastal suburb of Duxbury on January 24, 2023. She then slashed her wrists and neck before jumping from a second-floor window, leaving herself paralyzed from the waist down.
