I got a bonus 100 points and used 60 of them to get a pastry today. Shouldn't someone tell Lidl that having to spend £60 to get a soggy pastry taking the p**s?" A Lidl spokesperson said: "The launch of Lidl Plus Points gives shoppers more choice in how they're rewarded and a way to save even more on their shop. These changes come in response to customer demand for greater flexibility in how rewards are earned and used." And, after a quick cucumber-related fact check, it seems that claims about Lidl's new reward programme have been debunked. Shoppers at Lidl used to get a free veggie after forking out £50 in a month as part of the Coupon Plus rewards program. Now, British customers will need to spend £100 to get the same value. Some on social media did hit back at Aldi's teasing of Lidl, taking to the comments section of one the posts mocking its Rival german grocer to point out that Aldi's doesn't even have a loyalty programme of its own. Aldi, however, hit back and said it doesn't need one. An Aldi spokesperson said: "At Aldi, we don't invest in loyalty schemes, we invest in lower prices, for everyone, every time; proving that points don't make your weekly shop cheaper - Aldi does.
