Leeds manager Daniel Farke has missed his press conference ahead of their key clash against Tottenham Hotspur due to illness.

His assistant, Eddie Riemer, stepped in to face journalists ahead of the relegation contest.

The German manager was due to speak at 2:50pm to preview Monday's trip to Tottenham, but the club confirmed his absence just hours beforehand.

In a statement, Leeds said: "Unfortunately due to illness, Daniel's assistant Eddie Riemer will be taking today's press conference.

Leeds head into the weekend sitting 14th in the table, holding a seven-point cushion over West Ham, who occupy the final relegation spot in 18th.

With only nine points still available across the remaining fixtures, Farke's side are as good as safe in England's top flight.

A single point against Spurs on Monday would mathematically guarantee their Premier League survival, assuming safety is not already secured before kick-off.

Leeds' position could become even more comfortable depending on Saturday's results, with West Ham facing Arsenal in a crucial fixture.

Should the Hammers lose to the Gunners, Leeds would effectively be safe regardless of their own result at Tottenham.

Even a draw for West Ham would leave the Whites requiring just that solitary point, though they do boast a 14-goal better goal difference.

Should the Hammers produce a surprise victory against the Gunners, Roberto De Zerbi's Spurs would find themselves in the relegation zone heading into Monday's match, sitting two points adrift with just a couple of games remaining.

Nottingham Forest, also approaching safety, would remain at least five points ahead of Tottenham in that scenario.

Leeds come into the game in impressive form, having suffered just four league defeats since December.

Only Bournemouth, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal have lost fewer matches during that period.

Their 3-1 victory over relegated Burnley last weekend extended that strong run.

Aside from their defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup, Leeds have not lost a game since March 8 against Sunderland at home, 1-0.
