Lady Eliza Manners' heartache as her car is rammed by stolen motor in Notting Hill

Lady Eliza, 28, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, posted a photograph of her damaged vehicle on Instagram, captioning it: 'Happy Saturday'. The image shows extensive damage to the car's front and right hand side, with a crumpled bonnet, destroyed light and debris scattered all around it.  It is the latest bad fortune to befall the family following the difficult cancer battle faced by Emma Manners, the Duchess of Rutland. Lady Eliza, the youngest daughter of Emma, 62, and her ex-husband Lord David Manners, also posted footage from the incident, seemingly filmed out of an upstairs window. It showed her vehicle, parked on the left of the central London street, with a blue car smashed into the front of it. The second vehicle also had significant damage to the windscreen. A police vehicle and two officers are seen nearby. 'Love Notting Hill,' she added.  Living in London, Lady Eliza is the middle of five children born to Lord and Lady Manners. Her parents split up in 2012 but continued to live in separate quarters of the family home, Belvoir Castle. Emma remains chief executive of the castle, which is the family estate, and has written two books about it. In 2024 she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. In an interview with the Daily Mail in February, Emma told how she has since also had a hysterectomy, and with her health struggles behind her, she is now looking forward to the next generation of the family arriving on the scene.  She told how, having been at the castle for 25 years, she has seen its commercial arm expand from weddings to ranges of furniture, shooting parties to mineral waters and country wear – with plans afoot for a wellness centre. 'Belvoir is at this wonderful stage,' she said. 'In some ways, I've held it back. I have to get the right team to help it really find its wings and fly.  Lady Eliza wrote that a 'stolen car' was to blame for the accident, and 'ran into' her vehicle as it was parked in the street in Notting Hill Emma Manners, Duchess of Rutland and David Manners, the 11th Duke of Rutland at the family estate, Belvoir Castle, in Lincolnshire 'I don't think there's any limit because we've got a worldwide brand. We are very closely involved with the community and want to build on that.  'You've only got to look at France or Russia to see what happens if aristocracy loses touch with the community.'
