Labor is neck and neck with One Nation in worrying new poll for Anthony Albanese - as the Coalition finally gains some hard earned ground

A Newspoll for The Australian published Sunday night surveyed 1,238 voters between Monday and Thursday last week and found the Coalition and One Nation are clawing support away from Labor. Labor's primary vote fell from 33 per cent to 30 per cent, the lowest the party has recorded since Julia Gillard's government polled between 26 and 30 per cent. Support for One Nation rose from 29 per cent in June to 30 per cent in the latest poll to be level with Labor, while the Coalition's primary vote rose from a historic low of just 17 per cent to 19 per cent. For the last two weeks Angus Taylor has been hitting both Labor and One Nation on economic points by claiming the Albanese government's tenure has made Australians poorer, while One Nation's policies threatened to bankrupt the country. While the Coalition's popularity rose, however, leader Angus Taylor's personal net approval rating hit -21 per cent. Albanese fared a little better with his approval rating at -18, which is up from a record low of -24 in June. One Nation leader Pauline Hanson scored the best of the lot with a neutral rating.  Primary votes for the Greens sat at 12 per cent while others, including independents and minor parties, was nine per cent.  Labor's primary vote has fallen three points to 30 per cent while Anthony Albanese's (above) approval rating sat at -18 Support for Pauline Hanson's (above) One Nation rose from 29 per cent in June to 30 per cent Although Albanese's personal rating was better than Taylor, his 11-point lead over Taylor as the preferred prime minister fell to eight points. Just 44 per cent of voters preferred Albanese over Taylor as PM, while 36 preferred the Coalition leader and 20 per cent were uncommitted.  The closest margin recorded between the pair has been six per cent. When the question was opened to include Hanson in the pool of potential prime ministers, Albanese ranked first with 46 per cent of voters, followed by Hanson with 32 per cent and Taylor last with 22 per cent. The positive results for One Nation come after a brutal few weeks for the conservative party. Hanson has been widely criticised for travelling to London for a series of conservative forums and filming a podcast with extremist right-wing activist Tommy Robinson. During the podcast and events in London, Hanson repeatedly took aim at Australian immigrants who, she claimed, didn't want to assimilate.  'Don't apologise for being white, I am sick of hearing about white privilege,' she told the Conservative Political Action Conference. 'That is what I do, and that is what I think is appropriate for public representatives.'
