olağanüstü kongre kararı alarak yeniden aday olmayacağını açıklamasını büyük bir üzüntüyle öğrendiğini belirterek, şunları kaydetti: "Görev süresi boyunca Çaykur Rizespor için büyük bir özveriyle çalışan, zamanını ve emeğini kulübünün geleceği adına samimiyetle ortaya koyan Sayın Turgut, sağduyulu yaklaşımı, yapıcı tavrı ve çözüm odaklı duruşuyla Türk futboluna çok önemli katkılar sunmuştur. Kulüpler Birliği Başkan Yardımcılığı görevinde bana yol arkadaşlığı yapan Sayın İbrahim Turgut ile birlikte Türk futbolunun gelişimi adına birçok konuda ortak fikir alışverişinde bulunduk, çözüm üretmek adına mücadele verdik. Futbolumuzun sorunlarına karşı gösterdiği hassasiyet ve kulüplerimizin geleceğine dair ortaya koyduğu vizyon her zaman takdiri hak etmiştir."
