cumhurbaşkanını seçebilmek için toplandı. Muhalefet milletvekillerinin boykot ettiği oturumda, cumhurbaşkanı seçiminin ilk turunun yapılabilmesi için gerekli olan milletvekillerinin üçte ikisinin Genel Kurul'da hazır bulunması şartı sağlanamadı. Bu gelişme üzerine yerel saatle 23.00'te son kez toplanan Genel Kurul oturumu, yeni cumhurbaşkanını seçemeden saat 00:00'da sona erdi. Kosova Meclis Başkanı Albulena Haxhiu, oturumu sonlandırırken yaptığı konuşmada, "Bu oturum, bu sürecin ve bu yasama döneminin sonunu işaret ediyor. Anayasa Mahkemesinin kararına göre Meclis feshedilmiş sayılıyor ve seçimler Anayasal süre içinde ilan edilecek." diye konuştu. Sürenin dolmasına kısa süre kala Başbakan Albin Kurti, "Artık yapabileceğimiz başka bir şeyin kalmadığı bu noktadayız." dedi. Kosova'daki muhalefet partilerinin hızla düşüşte olduğunu ve her seçim sürecinde daha da gerilediklerini belirten Kurti, Kosova'nın yeni bir cumhurbaşkanına sahip olmak için yeni bir muhalefete ihtiyacı olduğunu vurguladı. Kurti, muhalefet milletvekillerinin Meclis'te bulunmamasına değinerek, "Umarım onların seçmenleri bu yokluğu kalıcı bir yokluğa dönüştürür." diye konuştu. Muhalefetteki Kosova Demokratik Partisi (PDK), cumhurbaşkanı seçim süresinin dolmasının ardından sosyal medya hesaplarından bir yazılı açıklama paylaştı. PDK'nin açıklamasında, şu ifadelere yer verildi: "Tek taraflı ve anayasal çerçevenin dışında bir sürecin dayatılması yönündeki girişimler başarısız oldu. Cumhuriyetin kurumları ve anayasal düzen korunmuş oldu. Mevcut iktidar, ardı ardına yaşanan siyasi krizlerin, kötü yönetimin, ekonomik krizlerin, vatandaşların güveninin boşa çıkarılmasının ve devlet ile vatandaşlara karşı sorumluluklardan kaçınılmasının başlıca sorumlusu olarak ortaya çıkan krizin temel sorumluluğunu taşımaktadır. PDK, erken genel seçim tarihinin anayasal süre içinde belirlenmesini, düzenli, özgür ve demokratik bir sürecin güvence altına alınmasını talep etti. Kosova'da 9 Şubat 2025'te genel seçim, 28 Aralık 2025'te ise erken genel seçim yapılmış, Albin Kurti liderliğindeki yeni hükümet 11 Şubat'ta Meclis'ten güvenoyu almıştı. Kosova'nın eski Cumhurbaşkanı Vjosa Osmani, Meclis'in yeni cumhurbaşkanını seçememesi üzerine 6 Mart'ta Meclisi feshettiğini duyurmuştu. Kosova Anayasa Mahkemesi, 25 Mart'ta Osmani'nin Meclis'i feshetme kararını geçersiz sayarak milletvekillerine yeni cumhurbaşkanını seçmeleri için 34 gün süre tanımıştı. Mahkeme, bu süre içinde yeni cumhurbaşkanının seçilememesi halinde Meclis'in feshedileceğini ve ülkenin 45 gün içinde erken genel seçime gideceğini bildirmişti. Osmani, beş yıllık görev süresinin sona ermesiyle 4 Nisan'da cumhurbaşkanlığı görevini geçici olarak Kosova Meclis Başkanı Haxhiu'ya devretmişti.
