King Abdullah refuses to meet Netanyahu, Jordan condemns Israel's death penalty law

ALBAWABA - Israeli media reports indicate that King Abdullah II of Jordan has refused to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The reports revealed that Netanyahu's office had repeatedly requested a meeting with King Abdullah II, but these requests were rejected.

They added that Jordan had set conditions for considering a meeting with Netanyahu, which are related to the Palestinian issue.

The reports indicated that the Jordanian conditions included clarifications regarding the establishment of a Palestinian state, a halt to the displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, the situation at Al-Aqsa Mosque, and water agreements.

These reports asserted that the Jordanian refusal thwarted Netanyahu's attempt to achieve any diplomatic breakthrough in this regard.

Yesterday, Israel's parliament (Knesset) passed a controversial law that permits the use of the death sentence against Palestinian prisoners. In return, Jordan strongly condemned the Knesset's approval of the law to execute Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails, considering it a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
