Kai Rooney's influence on dad Wayne as Man Utd legend prepares for football return

Wayne Rooney has been working with the same football coach as his son , Kai, as he prepares to make his return to the 'beautiful game' later this month. The Manchester United and England icon hung up his boots following an extraordinary playing career in 2021 and has since ventured into management and punditry. However, the 40-year-old will lace up his boots once more later this month as he prepares to feature in Soccer Aid alongside numerous former players and celebrities to raise funds for UNICEF . Rooney has been seen training ahead of the fixture, which takes place at the London Stadium on May 31, posting clips of himself going through drills on social media. And it seems the five-time Premier League champion has turned to his son's world-class coach for guidance as he gears up for his pitch return. Posting to Instagram with footage of himself practising passing, shooting and dribbling, Rooney wrote: "Not long to go @socceraid. Come on England." He also tagged RH Elite Coaching in the post, the same football coach who has previously worked with Rooney's eldest son, Kai. The top-level coach has also mentored the likes of Bruno Fernandes , Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford , as well as Klay Rooney, according to his impressive social media portfolio. It comes as England prepare to face the Soccer Aid World XI at this month's event in the capital, with numerous players already confirmed for the highly-anticipated encounter. Rooney will line up alongside the likes of Jermain Defoe and Jill Scott for the Three Lions, as well as Angry Ginge, Sam Thompson and Olly Murs and Joe Marler . Robbie Williams will take charge as head coach for England. The World XI, meanwhile, boasts Jordi Alba , Leonardo Bonucci, Nitro from Gladiators and Big Zuu among others. The side will also be managed by Usain Bolt . Kai, who has excelled with Manchester United at youth level, aims to follow in his father's footsteps in establishing himself as a professional footballer. However, he recently confirmed that his campaign has been curtailed due to injury . Taking to the stories section of his Instagram account in March, he explained: "Disappointed to be out for the rest of the season. Back stronger next pre-season." It's far from the first setback the teenager has faced during the early stages of his career. Earlier this season, Kai shared a photo of himself on crutches and wearing a protective boot. He also wrote in a post at the time: "Life can't get worse," laying bare his frustrations. Nevertheless, the young forward has plenty of cause for optimism despite his injury troubles.
