Joey Barton pleads not guilty to grievous bodily harm charge from alleged golf club incident

Former Premier League footballer Joey Barton has pleaded not guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent on an ex-non-League manager.Barton, 43, and 50-year-old Gary O’Grady are jointly charged with assaulting father-of-two Kevin Lynch, 51 at a golf club in Merseyside last month.Appearing by video link from HMP Liverpool at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday after being denied bail at an earlier hearing, Barton, who wore a grey jumper, denied the charge and Recorder of Liverpool Andrew Menary set a trial date for September 7 this year.Advertisement
