Joe Wicks quits the Cotswolds after selling his £3.25million mansion: Fitness guru is latest star to abandon A-list rural hotspot

The TV presenter and author was said to be 'quitting the Chipping Norton set' in February after listing his Oxfordshire home on the market. He had bought the country house three years earlier for £2.9million near the residences of the Beckhams, Jeremy Clarkson and Amanda Holden. The Grade II-listed home has a guest cottage and the River Swere running through its grounds. It also has six bedrooms as well as a spa, sauna, snug and home office, accompanied by a wildflower meadow, orchard and herb garden, which is all set within 2.5 acres. Now, the house has 'recently sold' according to the property listing on Savills' website, but the official sale price was not revealed. The listing read: 'Period features include open fireplaces and exposed timbers with a separate two-bedroom thatched cottage for weekend guests or holiday lettings. 'Joe bought the pad after planning permission was granted for a double-height extension, including an open-plan kitchen with glass doors leading directly out to the garden. Mr Wicks, known as The Body Coach, fronted Channel 4 series Mr Wicks: The Body Coach and has built a following through his Body Coach TV YouTube workouts. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he became 'the nation's PE teacher' with his PE with Joe livestreams, which drew millions of viewers and earned him an MBE in 2020. Mr Wicks's main residence in the UK is believed to still be a £4.4million home in Virginia Water, Surrey, which he bought in 2020. He also owns a beach house in Santa Monica, Los Angeles which he bought in 2016.  Mr Wicks follows a string of other stars to vacate the A-list rural spot including fashion designer Stella McCartney and actress Elizabeth Hurley. Only last week it emerged Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher had bought the Cotswolds home of legendary English footballer Tony Adams for £4million. The former Arsenal captain's wife, Poppy Teacher, said she and Mr Adams 'want to have a London life, do things like go to galleries'. Joe Wicks and his wife Rosie, pictured, splashed out on the home in 2023 in the celebrity-friendly area of Chipping Norton Adams told the Daily Mail: 'This is a new era for us. We've sold the house and are returning to London. My wife is going back to school.'  Asked about his new home, he said: 'We are now renting while we find a new home in north London. 'We’re not going back to the area where all the Blues are.' Gallagher has insisted he is pleased with his new purchase and that he is loving life in the Cotswolds. Asked whether he had any friendly neighbours, he said: 'They’re absolutely incredible. 'They have not stopped baking me cakes and scones.' The Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty extends beyond the Cotswold District into parts of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Wiltshire, Worcestershire and Somerset.  According to Rightmove, house prices in the region sold for an overall average of £447,690 over the last year. The area also attracts around 35million tourists annually. In recent years some celebrities have opted to flock to Northamptonshire – known affectionately as 'the Notswolds' and described as the 'nation's best kept secret' by writer Alan Moore. Bruton in Somerset has also proved a popular destination for its rail link to London, proximity to the A303 and 'cosmopolitan vibe'.
