Geno Smith was pulled over in Florida for speeding, marking his third encounter with police this offseason.

He received two tickets: one for not having his license and another for speeding at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Previous incidents included driving with improper tags and a police investigation related to allegations made by a woman on social media, which was closed without charges.

Geno Smith’s offseason continues to involve law enforcement after a traffic stop that occurred in Florida this past week.

Smith, who reunited with the New York Jets this year following one season with the Las Vegas Raiders, was pulled over by an officer from the Davie Police Department on July 6 after being accused of traveling well over the speed limit in a 45-mph zone.

The incident was captured by police bodycam, where Smith, driving a 2025 Aston Martin, got a compliment from the officer making the traffic stop before telling him what he did wrong.

"All right, sir," the officer was heard saying to Smith in the bodycam footage. "Beautiful car. Seventy miles an hour, man. That’s too fast for 45."

Smith, then, was asked to provide the officer with his license and registration, but he said he didn’t have any of it. He also noted the vehicle was registered to a friend.

"I live right here; my license and everything is in my house," Smith told the officer.

After taking down Smith’s information, the officer told him to always have his physical ID on him, to which the quarterback replied, "My bad."

The officer returned to Smith’s vehicle with two tickets, one for not having his license present for the traffic stop and the other for unlawful speed.

This is the third time this offseason where Smith needed to speak with Davie police officers. In April, it was driving a Rolls Royce with improper tags, where he and the officer had quite the exchange in yet another bodycam moment. Smith ended up telling the officer to "do your job better" despite being told that Smith’s offense was "unassigned tag to the vehicle."

A more serious conversation with officers came when a woman claimed on Instagram in June that Smith "beat my a—cause he HATES taking care of his special needs kid and can’t be left alone with him because hed (sic) rather watch s*x online and play Call of Duty."

The California Post and ESPN reported that cops were called to Smith's home in Davie, but no arrests were made. The investigation has since been closed, with no charges going against Smith in this case, per multiple reports.

Smith is gearing up for his 13th season in the NFL, but his fifth with the Jets after playing his first four years with the organization that took him in the second round out of West Virginia in 2013.

Smith’s first stint in New York was quite the turbulent time, which included a demotion after starting his first two seasons and getting punched in the face by his Jets teammate, IK Enemkpali, during an altercation in the locker room in 2015. The punch broke his jaw and required surgery that sidelined Smith for weeks.

Smith has been a different quarterback and person since then, maturing on and off the field when given opportunities elsewhere. However, it was with Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks where Smith had a career revitalization, earning the starting gig in 2022 and getting the Seahawks to 9-8 that year to earn his first Pro Bowl nod.

The quarterback spent five years in Seattle before he was traded to the Raiders prior to this past season. But after going 2-13 in his 15 starts there, the Raiders traded Smith back to the Jets.
