Jeremy Clarkson was reduced to tears on Saturday night as his Hawkstone Farmers Choir made Britain's Got Talent history by becoming the first choir ever to win the ITV competition.

The Clarkson's Farm star was visibly emotional as the agricultural singing group was crowned the 2026 champion after receiving more than one million public votes during the live final.

Their victory secured the choir a £250,000 prize and a coveted place at this year's Royal Variety Performance.

Cameras captured Mr Clarkson wiping away tears during the group's emotional final performance of original song This Is Home before he watched them complete their remarkable journey by lifting the trophy.

Responding to the result live on air, a choir spokesperson said: "We are the first ever choir to have won Britain's Got Talent. This is for all the farmers out there."

The victory capped a remarkable journey for the group, who received Amanda Holden's Golden Buzzer during their initial audition.

For their final performance, the choir debuted an original song called This is Home.

The emotional rendition earned a standing ovation from the judges, with Simon Cowell praising the decision to perform their own material.

"Tonight that was absolutely on the money. The best act we've seen so far tonight," Mr Cowell told the group.

He added that he believed they had a genuine chance of winning the competition.

KSI also praised the risk taken by the choir, saying: "It's such a risk especially in the final to do an original song, but put that on Spotify."

Amanda Holden described the harmonies as incredible, while Alesha Dixon told the performers they were "in with a real shot" of victory.

The choir was originally assembled by Mr Clarkson as part of an advertising campaign for his Hawkstone brewery before evolving into a much larger community project.

Made up of agricultural workers from across rural Britain, the ensemble includes farmers from Oxfordshire as well as ten members from Wales.

The group has consistently used its platform to raise awareness of mental health challenges facing those working in farming communities.

During their audition, choir member Catriona spoke about the isolation often experienced by agricultural workers.

"We love what we do, but it's incredibly lonely. It's really isolating, to do this all together means the world to us," she said.

Many farmers work alone for long hours, often spending up to 16 hours a day in relative isolation.

Mr Clarkson has previously highlighted those struggles through his hit Amazon series Clarkson's Farm, which has explored the pressures facing modern farming.

Following their historic win, the choir once again used the spotlight to encourage people who may be struggling to seek support.

Referencing the group's wider mission, a spokesperson said: "If you're struggling, speak up."

The victory was widely celebrated by viewers on social media, with many praising the choir's mission as well as their performance.

One fan wrote: "As I said, the Hawkstone Farmers Choir was excellent tonight. I'm delighted they won #BGT."

Another commented: "People should be able to be proud of their roots, proud of being of the land. Huge congratulations to The Hawkstone Farmers Choir on winning Britain's Got Talent."

A third viewer praised the group's wider message, writing: "Raising awareness of rural isolation and mental health. A special shout-out to all the Welsh farmers involved."

Others hailed Mr Clarkson's role in bringing the group together, with one fan posting: "If the Hawkstone Choir win BGT tonight, Jeremy Clarkson you are a genius, and the folk in the choir, you are fabulous. Putting farming, and mental health on the map."

Another simply declared: "The best act won!"

It wasn't all positive talk for the choir however, with some viewers questioning whether the choir's connection to the famous farmer had given them an advantage.

One viewer wrote: "No real surprise the Hawkstone Farmer's Choir won. Clarkson's Farm is hugely popular, as is Jeremy Clarkson. That'll be free publicity for Hawkstone lager at the Royal Variety then."

Another asked: "How much money do you think Jeremy Clarkson gave to try and make sure the farmers win #BGT."

A third claimed: "Why does it constantly feel like #BGT is pushing for Hawkstone Farmers Choir to win... they don't talk this much praise about other acts, the constant panning to Jeremy Clarkson... It just feels like it's already been decided by the production team."

The Hawkstone Farmers Choir triumphed over a diverse field of finalists including drone artists Celestial, singer Matty Juniosa, magician Fabian Fox, poet Sonny Green, comedian Ted Hill and dog act Anastasiia and Salsa.

Celestial finished as runners-up, while Anastasiia and Salsa took third place.

The victory follows last year's winner Harry Moulding, who made a surprise appearance during Saturday night's final as part of fellow magician Fabian Fox's performance.
