ITV Coronation Street fans 'work out' return plans for Gail Platt as Sarah's devastating fate is sealed

Coronation Street devotees are speculating that a legendary character could soon make her way back to Weatherfield following dramatic spoiler revelations about Sarah Platt's fate.

Viewers have been piecing together clues suggesting Gail Platt, portrayed by Helen Worth, may be forced to abandon her new life abroad after upcoming episodes confirm her daughter Sarah will be imprisoned for killing Theo Silverton.

The abuser met his end back in April after his prolonged campaign of intimidation against Todd was finally exposed, setting off yet another murder mystery on the ITV soap.

Sarah, played by Tina O'Brien, has now been identified as the killer.

The fatal confrontation took place atop scaffolding, where Sarah grabbed a metal pole and struck Theo over the head, causing him to tumble from the structure and plunge to the ground below.

Following the killing, Sarah turned to Gary Windass for assistance in hiding what she had done.

The pair managed to conceal the truth for months, though Sarah found herself increasingly unable to cope with the burden of her secret.

Maria later confronted Sarah about implicating Gary, prompting Sarah to finally admit to a shocked Lisa that she killed Theo.

With Sarah's departure from the cobbles now appearing inevitable, fans have turned their attention to what this might mean for her mother.

Gail departed Weatherfield in 2024 to begin a fresh chapter in France alongside her husband Jesse Chadwick, played by John Thomson.

The speculation surrounding Sarah's future comes as Ms O'Brien recently found herself making headlines away from the cobbles following a confrontation with a photographer near her home.

The actress shared footage of the heated exchange on Instagram after claiming she was being photographed outside her property.

When the photographer asked why she had made a rude gesture towards him, Ms O'Brien replied: "Because I don't particularly like being filmed or photographed, do you?"

After he suggested it was "part and parcel of being a celebrity", the soap star later clarified that the encounter had taken place close to her home rather than at a public event.

She explained that photographers regularly wait at a nearby coffee shop with a clear view of her front door, adding: "If you ever see a photo of me in the paper looking completely unaware or just going about my day, please know those aren't 'set ups'.

"They're taken by photographers waiting outside my home."

The 41-year-old added that, while she understands public interest comes with working on television, she does not believe that means giving up "any expectation of privacy" while carrying out everyday tasks such as walking to the shops.

She also revealed she is searching for a new home that offers greater privacy.
