Italian channel copyright strikes Nvidia DLSS 5 trailer on YouTube

ALBAWABA - YouTube's controversial copyright system is at it again after an Italian TV channel successfully took down Nvidia's DLSS 5 showcase trailer, claiming that the content is DMCA-protected and owned by the channel instead of the GPU manufacturer.

Reports state that the copyright claim was issued by Italian private television channel La7, which used footage from the Nvidia trailer. 

Upon visiting the video posted by Nvidia Geforce on YouTube, users were met with a message that read, "This video is unavailable. It contains material from La7, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."

The issue at hand highlights the struggles content creators on the platform go through due to YouTube's flawed automated system. Reports add that videos that contain footage from the DLSS 5 trailer were also affected by the automated mistake. 

Before it was taken down, Nvidia's controversial reveal of its all-new DLSS 5 rendering technology garnered over two million views. 

The new AI-powered rendering technology sparked debate, speculation, and backlash from the gaming community, with many describing it as "soulless AI slop."

The showcase featured games such as Capcom's Resident Evil: Requiem and Hogwarts Legacy. Many said that the new rendering technology incorporates pixels with photorealistic lighting, making the games look soulless compared with the original gameplay footage shown beforehand. 

Nvidia's CEO Jensen Huang recently responded to ongoing backlash against the tech giant's recently unveiled DLSS 5 rendering technology.

At a press Q&A with Tom's Hardware during GTC 2026, Huang said, "Well, first of all, they're completely wrong" in response to the ongoing criticism. He added, "The reason for that is because, as I have explained very carefully, DLSS 5 fuses the controllability of geometry and textures and everything about the game with generative AI."
