Basına yansıyan görüntülerde, beraberindeki fanatik Yahudilerle Aksa'nın avlusunda Talmudik dualar okuyan Ben-Gvir'in, Yahudilere has ritüeller yaptığı ve alkış tuttuğu görüldü. Kudüs Valiliği, Mescid-i Aksa'nın zaman ve mekan olarak bölünmesi amacına yönelik bir adım niteliğindeki bu provokatif baskının, Kudüs'teki İslam ve Hristiyan kutsal mekanlarına yönelik ihlallerin bir parçası olduğunu ifade etti. Mescid-i Aksa, İsrail ile Ürdün arasında 26 Ekim 1994'te imzalanan barış antlaşmasına göre Ürdün Vakıflar, İslami İşler ve Mukaddesat Bakanlığına bağlı Kudüs İslami Vakıflar İdaresinin himayesinde bulunuyor. Yahudiler, 2003'ten bu yana İdarenin izni olmadan İsrail'in tek taraflı kararıyla polis eşliğinde kutsal mabede giriyor. Bu girişleri "baskın" olarak nitelendiren Kudüs İslami Vakıflar İdaresi, Müslümanların egemenliğinin ihlal edildiğini vurguluyor. İsrail yönetimi, Mescid-i Aksa'da "sadece Müslümanların ibadet edebildiği diğer dinlerin mensuplarınınsa sadece ziyarette bulunabildiği" yönündeki tarihi statükonun korunduğunu savunuyor. Ancak fanatik Yahudilerin İsrail polisi korumasında Aksa'ya düzenledikleri baskınlarda dua etmeleri ve dini ritüelleri yerine getirmeleri sıkça kameralara yansıyor. İsrail içindeki Ultra-Ortodoks Yahudi din adamlarının çoğunluğu ise Yahudilerin Mescid-i Aksa'ya girmesinin dinen yasak olduğunu vurguluyor.
