While the super wealthy in Mayfair and the Cotswolds are not the first victims you might think of while bombs rain down in the Middle East, the oil crisis is hitting up and down global society. Supercars rely on specialist oils designed to cope with hot, high-revving engines but Iranian missile strikes have destroyed key Gulf refineries which make these lubricants. Experts have warned a global shortage looms over the fire spitting exhausts of Lamborghinis, Ferraris and other such cars which risks them being confined to their garages. Oil company ADNOC's Abu Dhabi plant was hit by an Iranian drone which caused a major fire on the complex on March 10. The site can refine up to 922,000 barrels of oil a day and serves as a central hub of the emirate's downstream operations. The site produces 500,000 tonnes of the oil needed for supercars Gabriella Twining of energy consultancy Argus Media told the Telegraph: 'Should supplies run dry then blenders won't be able to produce the finished lubricants.  'For now supercars can push back oil changes but it could get to a point where they won't perform properly without new oil, or risk engine damage, so they won't be able to drive their cars.' She added: 'Group 3 oils are now stranded on the closure and now blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.'  An AA spokesman said: 'These lubricants are critical to the sound running of these high-performance cars. 'And skimping on their maintenance, including the right lubricants, is asking for a very big repair bill.' The comments below have not been moderated.
