Iran sets conditions before entering talks with the US

ALBAWABA - In a hint of ongoing tension ahead of scheduled diplomatic talks, Iran has said that it would not engage in conversations with the United States until certain preconditions are fulfilled.

Iranian media reports that Tehran has stated unequivocally that talks won't start unless earlier pledges are met, underscoring continued differences over the negotiating framework.

The achievement of a truce in Lebanon and the release of Iranian assets that have been blocked overseas are two essential requirements for beginning negotiations, according to Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

He underlined that these actions were already decided upon and have to be finished prior to the start of any official discussions.

Discussions in Islamabad

Ghalibaf's Iranian team has reached Islamabad, where negotiations with U.S. officials are anticipated. However, because of unsolved difficulties, it is still unclear whether negotiations would go as scheduled.

Persistent Tensions

The events coincide with ongoing hostilities in Lebanon and disputes over the parameters of a ceasefire, which have hampered diplomatic efforts and slowed the advancement of discussions.
