Iran conflict drives fuel prices, inflation fears higher

Americans have been feeling the pain at the pump for weeks now, as the war with Iran continues to disrupt strategic oil shipments though the Strait of Hormuz. Fuel prices have spiked, driving up transportation, airfare, and shipping costs, expenses that could soon start showing up in everything from groceries to utility bills. Economists warn that if the conflict drags on, higher energy prices could fuel broader inflation, squeezing household budgets and slowing spending across the U.S. economy.
