Inquest into death of Sheff Utd player Cusack adjourned again

The inquest into the death of Maddy Cusack has been adjourned until December 7. The Coroner has requested two witnesses who gave evidence earlier in the inquest return for further questioning, and to possibly add another witness to the list. Further documents have also been submitted to the court.The inquest has run for nine days so far, hearing from multiple witnesses including the parents of Maddy Cusack, former Sheffield United women's team manager Jonathan Morgan, along with executives and employees at the club.The coroner initially hoped to conclude the inquest - which began on June 29 - in six days, but had scheduled up to two weeks given the large number of witnesses and files of documents.This is now the second significant delay in the inquest. It was first meant to start on January 5, but was immediately adjourned after a large submission of relevant documents was made prior to its scheduled start.Then the coroner, Sophie Cartwright KC, apologised to the Cusack family and on Thursday she apologised to the family once more following this latest adjournment.The case so far...Sheffield United bosses knew midfielder Maddy Cusack had issues with her former coach before they hired him to manage the women's team, an inquest has heard.Chesterfield Coroner's Court was told a manager at the club thought Jonathan Morgan did not have the "greatest reputation" when he was appointed as the coach months before Cusack died.Assistant coroner Sophie Cartwright KC heard that Cusack was found unresponsive at her home in Horsley, Derbyshire, on September 20 2023.The player's family sent a written complaint to United within a week of her death, outlining issues they alleged stemmed from her time working under Morgan.The club's head of football administration, Carl Shieber, told the inquest on Wednesday that Morgan was "transparent" about his relationship with Cusack, whom he worked with years earlier at Leicester, during an informal chat before he was recruited by United in Febr...
