Kiev'deki Aziz Sofya Katedrali önünde yaptığı konuşmada Burnham, Ukrayna'nın Rusya'ya karşı direnişini İngiltere'nin Nazi Almanyası'na karşı verdiği mücadeleye benzetti. Burnham, kış öncesi Kiev'in hava savunmasını güçlendirmesine yardım etme sözü vererek, "Rusya'nın ülkemize yönelik çirkin tehditlerine rağmen Ukrayna'ya desteğimizi sürdüreceğiz." dedi. Başbakan Burnham, Rusya üzerindeki baskıyı sürdürmenin ve bu ülkenin finansman kabiliyetini kısıtlamanın da tam zamanı olduğu değerlendirmesinde bulundu. Açıklamada, Burnham'ın, göreve gelmesinden bu yana gerçekleştireceği ilk yurt dışı gezisi kapsamında, Kiev'in uzun menzilli füzelerin yerli üretimini artırmasına yönelik İngiliz desteğini de açıklayacağı kaydedildi.
