GB News journalist Keith Bays has vowed to "continue asking the questions that people want answers to" after finding fame for taking ministers to task outside 10 Downing Street.

Keith’s appearances last week have become the talk of the country for the forthright way he asked questions to ministers entering and exiting No10 during the Labour leadership crisis.

A montage of him questioning members of the Government as they left a Cabinet meeting this week was even featured on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You.

Host Victoria Coren Mitchell commented: “There were rumours that the Prime Minister would announce a timetable for stepping down, and so the journalists did what they do best, which is gather at 10 Downing Street to shriek randomly.

“Should we have a look at Keith Bays from GB News? He's very optimistic that someone will speak to him.”

Keith also featured on ABC Australia.

But despite Ministers remaining tight-lipped, Keith is vowing to keep the questions coming.

He said: “Some will no doubt argue that shouting questions at the Cabinet and Prime Minister is pointless.

“They’ll say, 'why do it when they rarely answer any of the questions shouted?' Well, speaking as someone who has done lots of shouts over the past couple of years, I can tell you it’s hugely important, and a job I take very seriously when I do it.

“Obviously, it adds theatre to what would otherwise be very boring pictures, but there is a serious point to it, which is accountability.

“The British public rightly expects journalists to hold elected officials accountable in a number of ways, and shouting questions is one of them.

“The public at home gets to see that in action in their homes on live TV, and I plan to keep doing this every time I am on shout duty.”

“Cabinet ministers do sometimes chime in with a cheeky remark or look, some do answer the odd question, whilst the Prime Minister never does, I will concede, but I still have to try as a journalist and hold him to account.

“It’s what the people we serve expect.

“If members of the Cabinet and PM both answered more questions on shouts, it would be to their credit.

“The public would, I think, appreciate that.

“By hiding away behind their media training and not engaging, they will not win favour with the British public, who will just see yet more politicians promising change, promising the world, and yet avoiding any questions or scrutiny.”
