Iconic seaside town overrun by anti-social motorists as car park turns into late-night race track
المصدر: GB News | Source: GB NewsLocals in an iconic seaside town have been overrun by anti-social motorists as a car park has been turned into a late-night race track.
Residents living in Llandudno's West Shore neighbourhood say they are being "terrorised" by nocturnal vehicle disturbances emanating from a nearby car park.
Those affected have drawn comparisons between the Dale Road facility and the famous Brands Hatch race track, with one local stating the noise was "on a par" with the Kent venue.
The seaside car park, which overlooks the sandy beach and attracts visitors for evening strolls and sunset views, has become a gathering point for drivers engaging in what locals describe as anti-social behaviour.
TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayComplaints centre on vehicles accelerating "at full throttle" before racing through adjacent streets, while others perform stunts including donuts.
Although the location has experienced similar issues previously, with the last significant outbreak occurring in 2024, residents insist this year's disruption surpasses anything they have witnessed before.
Sleep-deprived locals report that motorists sound their horns persistently throughout the night, with some holding them down for extended periods.
One frustrated resident wrote online: "Every night there are many cars peeping their car horns some hold down their horns for long periods. It's really annoying and is stopping kids from being able to get to sleep."
They continued: "Cars race out of the car park and it's only a matter of time before one loses control and hurts someone. Motorbikes are constantly revving engines which are definitely not road legal as the exhausts are way too loud."
Elderly residents have reportedly become fearful of venturing outdoors after dark, while motorcyclists have allegedly been spotted speeding along pedestrian-only beach promenades.
One local expressed particular sympathy for those residing in retirement flats along the seafront.
A local community group called Friends of the West Shore, whose volunteers organise litter collections and work to enhance the area, has raised the matter with authorities.

The group continues to press for a barrier to be installed at the car park entrance, though a representative indicated Conwy Council has so far declined to consider automatic number plate recognition cameras.
The council confirmed CCTV equipment is already operational at the West Shore facility and urged affected residents to contact police directly.
A council spokesman stated: "We do not tolerate anti-social behaviour of any kind, we take these incidents seriously due to the distress and upset they cause, and we will take robust legal action when required."
One resident cautioned others against attempting to photograph those responsible, recounting how someone who did so was subsequently surrounded and intimidated.
North Wales Police confirmed officers have been deployed to the location in both marked and unmarked vehicles.
District Support Sergeant Kris Hunt explained that patrols aim to address problematic driving through education and, where necessary, by exercising powers under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
However, Sergeant Hunt emphasised the importance of timely reporting, stating: "Unfortunately, most of the reports are being made after the fact in passing to the area PCSO without supporting evidence, which hinders our capability to dealt with the situation effectively."
He encouraged those affected to contact the police while incidents are occurring.
