Iceland makes major change across 1,000 UK stores

Cash-strapped Brits could save hundreds of pounds on their food shopping this summer after Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse announced a huge new money-saving shake-up in 1,000 UK stores and online. The supermarket giant has launched a ‘Frozen Pledge’. It said it was "packed with discounts, deals and money-saving promises after new research revealed more than two-thirds (69%) of Brits say they are worried about rising food prices, with four in 10 (40%) admitting they have skipped meals to save money on food shopping". Iceland said the Frozen Pledge had seen more than 200 frozen products discounted or added to deals, as part of one of Iceland’s most significant customer savings initiatives to date. Customers will be able to snap up offers including a £1 meal cabinet, £2 ice cream deals, three for £5 on chips and veg and £1 savoury pastries, while branded favourites are also getting major discounts with 2 for £5 on McCain products and Best Ever Brands included in an eight for £10 multibuy deal. Iceland has also confirmed its popular 10 for £10 offer will now be extended throughout June and July, with even more products and seasonal lines added as part of the supermarket’s biggest frozen food shake-up in years. Richard Walker, executive chairman at Iceland Foods, said: “Doing the right thing for customers has never been more important and this Frozen Pledge is a huge commitment to both our new and existing shoppers. It’s one of our biggest ever refreshes on deals and now includes hundreds of our frozen products across our stores. We know people from all walks of life are continuing to feel the pressure of rising costs, so we want to help people save money just when they need it most.” The offers, available across all Iceland and The Food Warehouse stores nationwide, come as Iceland Foods research revealed that almost three-quarters (74%) of Brits want supermarkets to step in and help with the current cost-of-living crisis. It said the new deals and offers should help Brits who say they are shopping around for deals to make their money go further, with 49% admitting they plan their meals around what’s on offer rather than what they actually want.
