Hunt launched after lone woman 'is sexually assaulted on train'

Published: 20:12, 23 July 2026 | Updated: 20:25, 23 July 2026 A man is being hunted by police after a woman was sexually assaulted on a train.  The incident happened on a train travelling between London Victoria Station and Tulse Hill on Monday, June 29, at around 5.50pm.  A man sat next to a lone woman and started making unwanted contact with her before sexually assaulting her.  When he noticed other passengers looking over, he quickly moved away.   Today, British Transport Police released an image of a man they wish to speak to.  Officers believe the man could have information that may assist their enquiries.  The force said: 'Anyone who recognises him is asked to text BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 134 of 1 July.  'Information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.'  Police said they are looking to speak to this man  Reports of sexual offences on the Tube have reached a five-year-high.  In March this year, a London Assembly report described 'unacceptable' levels of violence against women and girls across the capital's public transport network.  In 2025, 4,593 sex-based offences against women and girls were recorded yet only a tiny proportion, around 3 per cent, led to a charge or summons.  Some 58 per cent of cases identified no suspect at all, despite an extensive network of CCTV and ticketing data that can help trace journeys.  The figures come as a report warned of the influence of figures like Andrew Tate on young boys.  Police fear boys have no positive role models to 'challenge Tate on his own turf' and warned that misogyny being peddled online to youngsters is 'extremism' which should be countered like terrorism.  A report by the London Assembly Police and Crime Committee published last April revealed how sexual harassment has become 'commonplace' in the capital's schools, with 90 per cent of girls and 50 per cent of boys reporting that they have received explicit pictures or videos they did not want to see.  Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
