Topical Steroid Withdrawal, also known as TSW, is a medication-induced condition whereby users of the anti-inflammatory creams experience a series of severe symptoms. Sudden cessation of corticosteroids, which are used to treat eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis, can bring on itching, burning and redness of the skin. These symptoms can become so severe - in some cases moreso than the conditions the creams are designed to treat - that sufferers have ended up in hospital. She has vowed not to have her baby son take the cream, believing corticosteroids she was prescribed for her life-long eczema had left her with the condition. She said: "I've been told by countless medics that all I have is a severe flare up of eczema and steroid creams will sort it. They just made it worse."
