By GREG HEFFER, POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT Published: 11:37, 23 June 2026 | Updated: 11:54, 23 June 2026 Humourless Labour MPs have condemned Royal Mail's attempt to poke fun at Keir Starmer's resignation as Prime Minister. Following Sir Keir's tearful speech on Monday – in which he set out a timetable for his departure – Royal Mail were quick to make light of the latest Westminster drama. In a post on X, the postal service wrote: 'Moving home? Remember to redirect your mail'. Royal Mail also posted a picture of a mocked-up mail redirection form with '10 Downing Street, London' as the stated old address.  On top of a picture of No10's famous black door, the firm added the caption: 'For life's unexpected moves'. But Labour politicians were unhappy with Royal Mail's social media joke, with Jim McMahon branding it 'unnecessary'. The MP for Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton added it was a 'second class response' from Royal Mail. Callum Anderson, MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, also replied to Royal Mail's post, writing: 'Really Royal Mail? Unnecessarily poor form.' Following Keir Starmer's tearful speech on Monday - in which he set out a timetable for his departure - Royal Mail were quick to make light of the latest Westminster drama But humourless Labour politicians condemned Royal Mail's attempt to poke fun at Sir Keir's resignation Tom Watson, former deputy Labour leader, branded Royal Mail's post as 'appallingly insensitive'. However, other social media users said Royal Mail's post was 'hilarious' and 'brilliant'. Following his resignation speech in Downing Street on Monday, Sir Keir skipped giving an update to the House of Commons on last week's G7 summit in France. Deputy PM David Lammy addressed MPs instead as Sir Keir came to terms with having announced an end to his two-year spell as premier. On Monday evening, Sir Keir and his wife Victoria hosted Downing Street staff for drinks in the No10 garden, where they thanked those present for their support. Lady Starmer told them: 'I just wanted to say thank you from me. 'I obviously love Keir and support him as much as I can, but there's only so much I could do. 'And it's you guys who gave that support day in, day out, and I am personally really grateful for that. So, thank you all.' The comments below have not been moderated.
