Marrakech – Huawei Morocco leveraged its fourth consecutive participation in GITEX Africa in Marrakech to showcase a sweeping and expanding portfolio that moves decisively beyond telecommunications, unveiling AI-driven, cloud, and digital infrastructure solutions aimed at transforming key sectors across the continent.

The Chinese tech giant’s presence at this year’s edition – held from April 7 to 9 and drawing more than 1,500 exhibitors and over 55,000 visitors – centered on what it terms “vertical AI,” or sector-specific artificial intelligence tailored to industries with distinct operational demands, including government, defense, banking, and public administration.

Under the theme “Advancing All Intelligence for New Africa,” Huawei brought into focus innovations spanning ICT, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, reinforcing its positioning as a key enabler of Africa’s digital transformation.

David Li, General Manager of Huawei Morocco, framed the company’s presence in broad terms. “Through our participation in GITEX Africa 2026, we are reaffirming our belief that digital intelligence is becoming a practical and powerful driver of transformation across Africa,” Li said. He added that the company aims to support governments, industries, and partners in building a future that is “more connected, more resilient, and more sustainable.”

Bouaamri Abdelali, Pan Gov Director at Huawei Morocco, told Morocco World News (MWN) that the company now serves a client base that extends well beyond its traditional telecom operator business. Government agencies, defense institutions, banks, and public administration bodies are now part of Huawei’s growing portfolio in the kingdom.

Bouaamri said Huawei’s AI offering distinguishes itself through solutions tailored to specific sectors rather than generic, one-size-fits-all tools. “When we move into specific domains, we need deeply specialized AI, and Huawei delivers that,” he said, pointing to healthcare, defense, and security as key verticals.

Asked whether AI poses a threat to human jobs, Bouaamri offered a blunt assessment. “Artificial intelligence is not here to replace humans. But humans who do not use artificial intelligence will disappear,” he said, summing up the company’s broader philosophy on the technology.

His remarks reflected a theme that ran through Huawei’s entire GITEX Africa presence this year – that AI adoption is no longer optional for institutions seeking to remain competitive.

‘Advancing artificial intelligence for a new Africa’

Adil Taleb, Datacom CTO at Huawei Morocco, provided further details on the company’s exhibition. He told MWN that Huawei’s participation this year carries a specific message. “This year, Huawei is present to promote advancing artificial intelligence for a new Africa,” he said.

Taleb explained the company’s exhibition showcases AI-based solutions across multiple industries, including finance, healthcare, and government. Huawei demonstrated scenarios centered on digital experience, networking, cybersecurity, and computing infrastructure – all designed to support digital transformation across the continent.

“These solutions enable industries to meet the significant and advanced demands of digital transformation,” Taleb noted. The company’s display positioned Huawei as a technology partner capable of serving both African governments and enterprises adopting AI at scale.

At the core of Huawei’s exhibition was a vision built around the concept of “One Network, One Cloud.” The approach reflects the company’s push to build resilient, future-ready digital infrastructure and unlock new value through intelligent technologies. The booth featured live demonstrations and industry-specific scenarios designed to show the operational value of the technologies on display.

One standout feature was the Huawei Robot, illustrating the evolution of embodied intelligence and human-machine interaction. The robot rendered visible real-time perception, autonomous decision-making, and adaptive learning capabilities, showing how AI is moving beyond digital environments into physical, real-world applications.

Huawei’s ambitions in Morocco extend beyond AI

On the infrastructure side, Huawei presented advanced datacom solutions built on secure data center network architectures. The company also gave tangible form to all-scenario data storage solutions, all-optical networks delivering ultra-fast and low-latency connectivity, and flexible distribution solutions tailored to different sectors.

The industry-specific solutions covered a broad range. In finance, Huawei presented a digital banking approach that includes mobile financial services, financial cloud data centers, and intelligent branch solutions, alongside foundational financial models.

In the carrier domain, the company foregrounded 5G acceleration and the transition toward an all-optical era, with solutions such as digital ODN and AItoH expanding home broadband capabilities.

In energy, Huawei displayed intelligent mining solutions designed to improve safety and operational efficiency. In transportation, the company demonstrated how digital infrastructure can support intelligent mobility systems. Education and healthcare also featured prominently, with solutions for digital education communities, smart diagnosis and treatment tools, and streamlined management systems.

For government stakeholders, Huawei presented solutions focused on public security and e-government, designed to strengthen governance capabilities and improve public service delivery.

Nabil Ouchagour, Business Environment Director at Huawei Morocco, told MWN that this edition holds particular significance because it falls within what he described as the post-5G era in Morocco.

“We are now entering a new phase that includes various infrastructures, cloud, and artificial intelligence,” Ouchagour said. He noted that Huawei offers integrated solutions across all these domains, reflecting the interconnected nature of Morocco’s current digital priorities.

Ouchagour also cast renewable energy as a key component of the solutions Huawei is presenting. He affirmed the company’s support for Morocco in that direction, aligning its offerings with the kingdom’s broader development trajectory.

On the partnerships front, Ouchagour outlined a wide network of institutional collaborations. He said Huawei is presenting programs it runs with different ministries and partners across Morocco. These include work with the gaming sector, the Ministry of Digital Transition, the Digital Development Agency, telecom operators, and various other institutional stakeholders.

The breadth of these partnerships signals Huawei’s intent to embed itself across Morocco’s digital ecosystem rather than confine its operations to a single sector.

Whether that diversification translates into concrete contracts and deployments will depend on how Morocco’s government and private sector respond to the company’s expanded pitch. But at GITEX Africa 2026, Huawei made clear it intends to compete across the board. The Marrakech-hosted summit has become a key venue where firms pitch their solutions directly to African governments and enterprises.
