Salaam Husna Travellers,

We are less than a day away until we meet in Nassau, Bahamas! We’re very excited to greet you and share the next 6 days with you all, inshallah!

We want everyone to have a fantastic time with their loved ones – lots of fun in the sun and white sandy beaches. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to explore the island and surrounding areas teeming with water activities, nature discoveries and exciting adventures.

While you’re enjoying your time vacationing, you must keep safety in mind. Since many of you will be spending much of your time by the waters, I’ve compiled a list of Beach Safety Tips to prevent any injuries and ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.

Beach Safety Tips

  1. Always obey safety signs near beaches and pools.
  2. Swim with a friend and avoid venturing away from lifeguards.
  3. Young children and inexperienced swimmers must wear life jackets in and around waters, such as pools and beaches. There can be sudden drops in the waters, so be sure to stay within the safety ropes and indicator flags.
  4. Keep all children at arms reach and elders within sight near beaches. Waves at shallow waters can cause you to lose balance. Some Areas in the pool are 7ft and have a sudden drop. Do not let your children run by the pool area.
  5. Do not dive head-first into pools or waters. Check depths of waters and look for any obstructions before diving. Go into waters feet first for the first time.
  6. Look out for aquatic life. Stay away from unknown patches of plants and water animals.

* In an event where you might encounter someone struggling in the water, please proceed to assist immediately if you are confident in your ability to do so otherwise seek assistance right away.

Rip Currents

Rip currents are surface currents and waves that can pull a person away from the shore. It does not pull a person underwater. If anyone is caught in a rip current, here is how you should react:

  • Remain calm. Do not fight the current. Remember, it will not pull you underwater.
  • Control your breath. Take slow, deep breaths, and keep your head above the water.
  • Swim parallel to the shore until you are out of the current.
  • If you cannot swim, stay afloat or tread waters until the current passes. Then make your way back to the shore.
  • If you cannot swim back, bring attention to yourself by waving calling out for help.
  • Precautions: When visiting beaches, always check for water conditions, speak to the lifeguards nearby to gauge safety levels and stay within the safety ropes and indicator flags.

Inshallah, following the safety guidelines can help prevent injuries and accidents, and ensure all our travellers are having a good time with their friends and loved ones. Let’s look out for each other, lend a helping hand where needed and build fond memories together!

See you soon, inshallah!

Bon Voyage!
