For United, this means Michael Carrick's job has become considerably more straightforward, reports Manchester Evening News.‌The former midfielder was brought in to guide United back into the Champions League, and the Red Devils are on the brink of doing exactly that, having taken 23 points from a possible 30 available in his first 10 games in charge.‌United are currently in third place, on 55 points from 31 games, seven points clear of Chelsea in sixth.
