In an advisory, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has noted that it is on heightened alert and working closely with the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and the Associated Marine Officers’ and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (Amosup). “Our coordination is strong and continuous to ensure the safety, welfare, and rights of every Filipino seafarer,” said DMW. The agency has acknowledged the anxiety among seafarers and their families, especially those navigating key shipping routes linked to the Gulf region. “We understand your concerns. Remain calm, stay vigilant, and contact us immediately for assistance. We are here, ready to support you,” stated DMW. Theresa Lazaro and Iranian foreign minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi. Despite this, officials have pointed out that help is available for seafarers in need of assistance as the situation continues evolve.
