Horror unfolded after the as-yet unidentified motorist barreled down a road in East Oakland at around 11.15pm on Saturday. The car collided with another parked vehicle before it mounted the sidewalk and hit a group of people outside of a store at the intersection of 85th Avenue and International Boulevard, law enforcement told the East Bay Times. Three people were pronounced dead at the scene while another five, including the suspected driver, were injured, Oakland Fire spokesperson Michael Hunt confirmed. Of those injured, two were confirmed to be in critical condition while one other was seriously injured, according to Hunt. The condition of the other two remains unclear. The driver attempted to flee the scene but was detained by citizens before police arrived, according to officials. This is a breaking news story, please check back for updates.
