The old military Blasford Hill Bunker is 60 square metres and is being sold with the field that it sits on, off Essex Regiment Way in Chelmsford, Essex. But the downside is that needs quite a lot of work done for it to be habitable or usable as a place to carry out your historical military fantasy. Two of the walls have gaping holes and the concrete structure is empty inside. There are no such luxuries as running water or electricity to the pillbox either – and moss and stinging nettles have taken up residence. Buyers would also need planning permission in order to develop it into anything other than the dilapidated concrete box that it has become over the years. But a major bonus is the 400 square metres of beautiful green English pasture around it. Compared to other properties in the area, this is an absolute bargain too, sitting at seven times cheaper than the average property price – which is £458,000. Blasford Hill Bunker is on sale for £65,000 including 400 square metres of land around it But the old pill box will need quite a lot of work done before it can be used It is being sold by Tribute Land estate agents and is also advertised on Rightmove.  A Tribute Land spokesman said: 'Second World War bunker, available for a variety of uses subject to the necessary consent. 'Explore the potential of a distinctive historical property. 'This robust structure offers a unique character and the chance for a visionary project.' They added: 'Appreciate the unique history of the structure. Requires thorough investigation into planning and building regulations.' But once planning is approved, the building could be turned into something quite different, and it wouldn't be the first bunker to have a great makeover. Another bunker from the Second World War in Dorset has been turned into a £350-a-night money maker as a deluxe B&B. The windowless concrete structure was built into the hillside at Ringstead Bay, Dorset, in 1941 and served as an RAF radar base. The fortification was later refurbished and used as a rotor station to look out for Soviet bombers during the Cold War before being decommissioned in 1956. Now the old bunker has been given a new lease of life as a holiday home, complete with a kitchen, three bedrooms and stunning view across Dorset's Jurassic Coast – and it's proved a hit with holidaymakers, who have booked it out for the summer.
