By LAUREN ACTON-TAYLOR, US NEWS REPORTER Published: 02:35, 30 May 2026 | Updated: 02:55, 30 May 2026 Hillary Clinton has been branded a hypocrite for taking aim at President Donald Trump's treatment of the White House despite the many scandals she weathered while living in the executive mansion. The former First Lady sounded off on social media on Friday as a temporary Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) arena was being erected ahead of the Freedom 250 festival that kicks off on June 14.  The celebration is being held amid ongoing construction at the East Wing, where the president is constructing a new ballroom among other increased security measures. 'This is what Trump's done to the people's house: A third of it is rubble. Another third is a cage match. What a metaphor,' she wrote on X.  But social media users were quick to point out that she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, also carried out sweeping renovations while they were living at the White House to the tune of $400,000 paid for by private donors. The couple were also embroiled in further scandal in 2001 after they were accused of stealing around $28,000 worth of furniture to the presidential residence, Fox News reported. The Clintons eventually returned the items, which they said they believed they were entitled to keep as they were gifts. Meanwhile their aides were accused of vandalizing the White House during the transition to the Bush administration, according to the US Government Accountability Office. 'Hillary maybe you shouldn't go there,' one person wrote on X. 'White House damage by Clinton aides (2001 transition) $13,000 - $15,000 + ($30,000 in 2026). Hillary throwing White House objects at Bill. The Clintons tried to haul off $28,000 + ($58,000 in 2026) of White House furniture back to Arkansas.'  Former First Lady Hillary Clinton jumped on social media on Friday to criticize Trump's treatment of the White House She shared an image showing the set up of a temporary UFC arena alongside construction at the East Wing of the White House  'Look what Hillary Clinton's husband, President Bill Clinton, did to the White House. You and your husband stole furniture that you had to return,' a second quipped.  'Donald Trump is making the White House better. Maybe learn from him,' one comment read.  'To be fair, Hillary Clinton definitely knows rubble when she sees it. Her presidential ambitions went down hard, crashing into a massive pile of rubble, thanks to the current White House occupant,' another comment read.  One user even dredged up her husband's affair with junior aide Monica Lewinsky, which took place inside the White House. They said: 'Her husband porked somebody in the freaking Oval Office, then she stole tons of furniture when they left that they were forced to give back. She can kindly STFU.'  It appeared the backlash became too much for Clinton who turned off comments on her post, prompting further outrage.  'Hillary Clinton turns off comments are criticizing one of the hottest sports in America. She joins the Governor of New Mexico in making it clear that the Democrats don't want the support of real men,' the user wrote.  The UFC event has stirred mixed emotions with some furious at the politicization of the sport. Trump unveiled plans for the UFC fight as part of his celebrations for America's 250th anniversary which coincides with his own birthday Joe Rogan criticized the White House's plans to hold a mixed martial arts event outside the White House this summer on Wednesday's edition of the Joe Rogan Experience 'Well, it’s on the birthday of America. I mean, it’s the 250th birthday of America. What better place to celebrate it than the White House,' he said.  White announced his idea to host the UFC event at the White House for America's 250th birthday in 2025.  Veteran fight commentator Joe Rogan also offered some surprise pushback to the UFC event on the White House lawn, specifically because the bouts will be outside. 'I don’t like the idea of fighting outside at all,' Rogan told guests Josh Thomson and John McCarthy, a retired UFC fighter and referee, respectively. He foresaw 'problems' like bugs and fierce summer heat. Rogan - a former Trump supporter - said he found the whole concept 'odd.' 'It should be inside an air-conditioned arena. It should be a controlled environment,' he said. Rogan has been a play-by-play commentator for the UFC since 2002 and joined the company as an interviewer in 1997. The Freedom 250 event is set to coincide with Flag Day and Trump's 80th birthday.
