Highest intensity of Ukrainian attacks in three years recorded at Zaporozhye NPP

MELITOPOL, April 3. /TASS/. The Ukrainian armed forces have recently significantly intensified attacks on the area near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) and the ZNPP satellite city of Energodar, the plant’s communications director Yevgenia Yashina told TASS. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant has been receiving power from the last high-voltage line since March 24. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported the shutdown of the backup power line. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi added that negotiations would be initiated with Russia and Ukraine to establish a local ceasefire to allow for repairs. "Recently, there have been many attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces on the city and nearby areas of the plant. Such an intensity has not been observed in the past three years," Yashina said. Energodar Mayor Maxim Pukhov has been reporting almost daily on his Telegram channel about attempts by the Ukrainian military to attack the city’s civilian infrastructure. On April 2, he reported a strike on a fire truck while it was carrying out fire extinguishing efforts near the Zaporozhye Thermal Power Plant. On April 1, he reported an attack near the administration building. On March 29 and 30, the city’s power supply was cut off due to Ukrainian artillery strikes. On March 28, two civilians were injured in drone attacks. On March 27, the enemy struck the local sanitary and epidemiological station building and damaged a cell phone tower.
