A family is desperately fundraising to take their Frozen-obsessed daughter to Disneyland so she can meet Elsa - before she goes blind. Dave and Zoe Birch first became concerned about their daughter Brooke's 'lazy eye' in February 2024 and booked a GP appointment to get it checked out. At first, the 34-year-old dad-of-four claims they were told their daughter's left eye was struggling more than the other as it was developing at a slower rate. But when a second test in February 2025 showed the now four-year-old's sight had deteriorated further , she was given glasses and a patch to wear to strengthen her eye. Unfortunately her sight didn't improve so she was referred to hospital where an emergency MRI revealed a shadow behind her left eye and two shadows on her brain. She was then diagnosed with a low-grade glioma brain tumour in November 2025 and was started on a 70-week chemotherapy plan. Brooke is currently five months into her chemotherapy treatment and has her bloods taken every week at home. While an MRI scan in March found the tumour hadn't changed, Brooke's mum and dad have now received the devastating news that she'll eventually lose all vision in her left eye. The heartbroken parents are now raising funds through a GoFundMe to make 'special memories' as a family, which include taking her to Disneyland Paris. Dave, from Godalming in Surrey, said: "We've just about got enough money for the bills we need to pay but we've got no money to make memories with the children. "We'd love to take Brooke to Disneyland Paris for a few days. She loves Disney and she loves Rapunzel and Frozen. They have a whole dressing up box and she's a new princess every day. "Brooke would be most excited to meet Elsa from Frozen at Disney. She loves her but also loves being a princess like any little girl. "We had noticed a little bit of a lazy, we had her eye checked to make sure everything was okay. They found that this eye was struggling a little bit more than the other. They did further tests on her eye and that is when they saw something wasn't quite right. "They tried the correctional methods like wearing glasses and an eye patch. She then stopped eating and drinking and doing her daily activities and being active so we went for another test and there was no improvement. "Within a week we had an emergency phone call from her consultant to get her an MRI scan. "They found a shadow behind the eye and two shadows further back in the brain. Our brains were going into overdrive. "I asked the consultant, 'Is our daughter going to die?' and he said 'no' but he said it could be life changing." Due to Brooke's tumour being attached to a nerve behind her left eye, her parents claim doctors are unable to remove it. Their only hope is that after treatment Brooke's tumour won't have grown further. Scaffolder Dave said: "They can't guarantee any success rate with it going away. The treatment is to try and stop it from growing and causing any more issues. "We went to her eye appointment [last month] and we found that her eye has deteriorated a lot, the nerve in her eye has gone white and she's losing her eyesight. The way her eye is going is she's going to lose her eye [sight]. "We've had the good news at the MRI that the tumour hasn't changed but then we've had the bad news that her eyesight is deteriorating and her nerve is dying. "In her last eyesight test she was able to see pictures the size of an apple, but now she can't even see that size." Brooke's 33-year-old mum Zoe says her deteriorating eyesight will change her daughter's future. Zoe, from Godalming in Surrey, said: "We got really bad news [last month] about her eyesight. "We were told this is going to affect her life. She can't be certain things like a pilot as her eye has badly deteriorated. "I wish it was me and I wish I had it and I could take it away from her. She's an inspiration in the fact that she still smiles through all this. "When you're a parent, you can't cry in front of them when you're trying to grieve. If you do this, you feel like you've failed as a parent. I don't know how to take it all. I'm physically and mentally struggling." With Zoe now out of work caring for her daughter and Dave having to reduce his hours because of Brooke's diagnosis, the pair have set up a fundraiser. They hope to take Brooke to Disneyland Paris for a few days in between treatments to make their Disney-loving daughter's dreams come true.
