By JAMES GORDON, US NEWS REPORTER Published: 00:10, 30 June 2026 | Updated: 00:10, 30 June 2026 A predator who prowled Boston's nightlife posing as an Uber driver before raping multiple intoxicated women will spend the rest of his life behind bars after a jury convicted him of a string of horrifying sex attacks. Alvin Campbell, 45, the brother of Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell, was sentenced Monday to life in prison after being found guilty of 21 of 22 charges stemming from a years-long campaign in which prosecutors said he preyed on vulnerable women leaving bars and entertainment venues across the city. The Suffolk County jury earlier this month convicted Campbell of multiple counts including rape, kidnapping and indecent assault and battery. His trial laid bare what prosecutors described as a calculated pattern of targeting women who were too intoxicated to protect themselves or even remember much of what had happened. Campbell would exploit women who were too drunk to consent or fight back before recording some of the attacks on his cellphone to save for later, 'as mementos.' The videos became key pieces of evidence at his trial. One of Campbell's rape convictions carried a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 15 years. But even if he were ever granted parole on that count, additional rape convictions would require him to serve decades more in prison, meaning he is effectively expected to die behind bars. Alvin Campbell was sentenced to life in prison on Monday after being convicted of raping multiple women while posing as a fake Uber driver. The Suffolk County District Attorney described each claim as 'chillingly similar.' Investigators told how his SUV was plastered in Uber logos and stickers despite the fact he no longer drove for the company 'Night after night, Alvin Campbell drove his car into downtown Boston, late at night, when the bars were winding down and he looked for targets... young women who had too much to drink, who would actually believe he was a ride-share driver,' prosecutor Lynn Murphy told jurors during statements at trial. Murphy said Campbell 'was targeting them for sexual assault' and 'was looking for women he could exploit,' adding that in many cases the women had 'little or no memory of who he was or what he had done.' Jurors heard Campbell routinely waited outside some of Boston's busiest nightlife destinations, including TD Garden, The Harp and Lansdowne Pub, before driving them to locations before sexually assaulting them. According to court documents, the attacks took place inside his SUV, at his apartment in Cumberland, Rhode Island, or at victims' homes. 'A common denominator in the attacks is evidence that Campbell masqueraded as a rideshare driver and in one case a bar employee, and targeted women at venues in the downtown Boston area who were too intoxicated to consent to sex or to resist his assaults,' a criminal complaint stated. The attack that would identify Campbell as a suspect occurred on the night of December 6, 2019, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office. Cops say Campbell pretended to be a ride-sharing driver and picked up the victim outside The Harp bar in downtown Boston, after the real Uber she had ordered through her phone app had inexplicably left. The woman, who was intoxicated, got into Campbell's black SUV with the expectation of being taken home. She is said to have passed out in the backseat during the commute. Prosecutors said after sexually assaulting her inside the vehicle, Campbell drove her to his apartment in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and raped her. He also allegedly videotaped the assaults. The woman woke up hours later inside the bogus Uber driver's home suffering from pain in her groin and an injury to her chest. Campbell then drove the victim to a CVS pharmacy and left her there, according to court records. The woman somehow made her way home, then went to a hospital to undergo a sexual assault evaluation and filed a report with the Boston Police Department. Campbell was indicted in 2020 on charges of sexually assaulting eight women from 2017 to 2019. The number of claims eventually rose to nine Prosecutors told how Campbell would drive to popular Boston venues at night and impersonating an Uber driver, would offer women rides home before raping them Campbell had been in custody since his initial arrest by the Boston Police Department in January 2020 Detectives identified Campbell's SUV from surveillance video, which ultimately led them to his home in Rhode Island. When police executed a search warrant and went through the contents of Campbell's phone, they found videos showing him groping and raping the woman in his car. 'The clips showed her both clothed and naked. Campbell addressed her by name and commented crudely about her body.' He said at one point, 'Raise your eyebrow if you're all right,' and later 'Do you want to go upstairs to your house or come to my house?'' according to documents obtained by Boston Herald. A DNA test comparing a swab from the victim's rape kit and a sample from Campbell produced a match, the prosecutors said. A search of the suspect's car and home yielded a luggage tag bearing the victim's name. In a statement, Suffolk DA Rollins called on people out enjoying the warmer weather to be vigilant for 'questionable or predatory behavior'. 'Women have every right to partake in and enjoy an evening out, to drink and to have fun without risk or fear of being harassed, violated or harmed,' she said in a statement. 'Men need to start speaking to their sons, their brothers and colleagues about the new vision of masculinity and working to end violence against women and girls.' When police executed a search warrant and went through the contents of Campbell's phone, they allegedly found videos showing him groping and raping the woman in his car Campbell's sister previously said she was 'extremely heartbroken and saddened and devastated by these allegations' and was 'thinking about the victims who had the courage to come forward' Campbell is the brother of Attorney General Andrea Campbell, the top law enforcement official in the state. Before the trial began, she made a statement stating how she was praying for the survivors in the case. 'It takes extraordinary courage to come forward, and they deserve dignity and respect,' she wrote. 'This is an incredibly difficult situation for everyone involved, and I carry that weight with me, including in my prayers for my brother,' she went on. Campbell had been in custody since his initial arrest by the Boston Police Department in January 2020. No comments have so far been submitted.
