‘He truly cares what happens to Britain!’ Republican spokeswoman defends JD Vance’s comments on Henry Nowak murder

JD Vance has been said to “truly care what happens to Great Britain” after his statement on the murder of Henry Nowak was rejected by Keir Starmer.

Speaking to GB News, Republican Overseas UK Spokeswoman Jennifer Ewing defended the Vice President’s comments.

Posting to X on Friday, Mr Vance said the 18-year-old killing was as “tragic as it is enraging” and blamed an "invasion" of migrants for the circumstances of the incident.

Soon after the remarks were published, a Downing Street spokesman took aim at “people trying to interfere in our democracy and stir up division in our streets”.

Reacting to the row, Ms Ewing said the Vice President “looks at the United Kingdom as still the special relationship with the United States.

“I think he truly cares what happens to Great Britain. I think he's hoping that Great Britain can lead Europe out of the managed decline it's in.

“Quite frankly, if this had gone on in some random country that the United States didn't care about, I don't think the Vice President would have weighed in on it.

“And as far as it being divisive, I don't see how it is. A young man was murdered, and that should be a tragedy, whatever your age, race, religion, or whatever country you come from,” the Republican spokeswoman said.
