Harry calls himself 'Prince of England' during podcast appearance

Prince Harry listed his occupation as "Prince of England" during a podcast appearance released today, despite having quit royal duties six years ago.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, made the remarks while appearing on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast, where the former England rugby player conducts informal interviews with celebrities.

When questioned about his profession, Harry responded: "Full-time dad. British Army veteran. Prince of England. Duke. But for today, I don't know. What do you want?"

He ultimately settled on the title "Duke".

The interview comes six years after Harry and Meghan relocated to California following their decision to step back as senior royals in 2020.

The podcast, which is recorded at Kennington Podcast Studios in London, features Marler adopting the persona of an unconventional pseudo-psychologist who subjects his guests to probing questions and personality assessments.

Harry introduced himself by his full name: "Henry Albert Charles David, Duke of Sussex."

When Marler suggested he might describe himself as an "inventor" in reference to the Invictus Games, Harry swiftly corrected him to "founder".

The Duke's close friend JJ Chalmers, a former Royal Marines Commando and Invictus Games gold medallist, subsequently joined the recording session.

"So glad you're here. It's been weird," Harry told his companion upon his arrival.

The episode was recorded during Harry's visit to Britain last week, where he attended promotional events for the 2027 Birmingham Invictus Games, the adaptive sports competition for military veterans and service personnel.

However, the Duchess of Sussex withdrew from all public appearances during the trip, including scheduled Invictus Games countdown events in Birmingham.

Meghan's absence from the public-facing engagements was attributed to ongoing security concerns and legal disputes.

The couple lost their state-funded protection in Britain after relinquishing their roles as working royals, and negotiations with Buckingham Palace over security provisions for the family had proved contentious.

Despite the security complications, the Sussex family did gather privately with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire on Friday afternoon.

The reunion marked the first occasion Charles had seen his grandchildren Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, since the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022.

It was only the second time the King had met his granddaughter Lilibet.

Sources described the gathering as a "private family occasion" and confirmed no photographs would be released.

Neither Buckingham Palace nor the Sussexes have offered further comment on the meeting.

Notably, Harry did not meet with his brother Prince William or the Princess of Wales during his visit.
