Harriet Phillips debuts new title at Royal Ascot as fans spot heartwarming touch to wedding

Harriet Phillips made her inaugural public appearance as a member of the Royal Family at Royal Ascot today, with the official carriage list formally identifying her as Mrs Peter Phillips.

The 45-year-old NHS nurse wed Princess Anne's son Peter during their Cotswolds wedding on June 6, making this prestigious racing event her first royal engagement as a newlywed.

Her name badge for the Royal Enclosure similarly bore her new married title.

The couple arrived in the second horse-drawn carriage of the Royal Procession, travelling directly behind King Charles and Queen Camilla on the opening day of the celebrated racing meet.

For her debut outing as Mrs Phillips, Harriet opted for a striking baby-blue outfit from Suzannah London, a label often worn by the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

The Biarritz dress, crafted from silk crepe and retailing at £4,390, features a high collar with self-covered dome buttons and draws inspiration from 1940s vintage tea dresses.

She paired the elegant attire with a coordinating hat and an Anya Hindmarch pearl Maud clutch.

Eagle-eyed observers noted a particularly charming detail: the bag had been personalised with her new initials, "HP," a subtle yet heartwarming nod to her new title.

During the procession, Harriet was seated beside her husband and new mother-in-law, Princess Anne, with Sir Ben Elliot completing the carriage party.

The 45-year-old appeared thoroughly at ease in her new role, spending time with sister-in-law Zara Tindall at the racecourse before heading to watch the horses.

Zara herself opted for a lilac Rebecca Vallance dress, creating a complementary pastel palette with her brother's bride.

The newlyweds later retreated to the Royal Box, where they were spotted enjoying drinks together and exchanging affectionate glances.

Peter, 48, is the eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and the first of his generation to remarry.

The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble earlier this month, with the King, Queen, Princess of Wales and Prince William among the distinguished guests.

Harriet wore the Pragnell Tiara for the occasion, while the couple's three daughters served as bridesmaids.

This marks the second marriage for both Peter and Harriet. He was previously wed to Autumn Kelly, with whom he has daughters Savannah, 15, and Isla, 14. Harriet shares daughter Georgina, 13, with former husband Antonio St. John Sperling.

The pair first appeared publicly as a couple at the Badminton Horse Trials in May 2024, announcing their engagement the following August.
