Hantavirus outbreak on cruise may be linked to couple's trip to landfill site

The hantavirus outbreak on the MV Hondius cruise ship may have begun with a couple’s birdwatching trip to a landfill site. Two officials investigating the deadly viral outbreak aboard the vessel have said that the virus may have gotten onto the ship after a Dutch couple went to a landfill site in Ushuaia, on the Tierra del Fuego, before boarding the boat. At St. Helena, the body of the Dutch man suspected to be the first hantavirus case on board was taken off the ship. His wife flew to South Africa, where she collapsed at the Johannesburg airport and died. This is a Breaking News story.
