أعلنت البحرية الأميركية، اليوم الاثنين، وصول حاملة الطائرات USS Gerald R. Ford إلى خليج سودا في جزيرة كريت اليونانية، وذلك لإجراء أعمال صيانة وإصلاحات عقب اندلاع حريق على متنها خلال الفترة الماضية.

وذكرت البحرية الأميركية في بيان رسمي أن الحاملة، التي تُعد من أكثر السفن الحربية تطوراً في الأسطول الأميركي، لا تزال قادرة بشكل كامل على تنفيذ مهامها العملياتية، رغم الحادث الذي تعرضت له.

وبحسب البيان، ستخضع السفينة خلال تواجدها في القاعدة البحرية إلى سلسلة من الإجراءات الفنية، تشمل تقييم الأضرار، وتنفيذ الإصلاحات اللازمة، إضافة إلى إعادة تزويدها بالإمدادات، تمهيداً لعودتها إلى الخدمة.

وكانت شبكة CNN قد أفادت في وقت سابق بأن الحاملة غادرت موقع انتشارها في إطار العمليات الأميركية المرتبطة بالتوترات مع إيران، متجهة نحو خليج سودا، فيما أشار مسؤول أميركي إلى أن وجودها هناك سيكون “لفترة وجيزة”.

وفي سياق متصل، أكد الجيش الأميركي أن الحريق الذي اندلع على متن الحاملة لم يكن نتيجة أي عمل قتالي، دون الكشف عن تفاصيل إضافية بشأن أسبابه أو حجم الأضرار الناجمة عنه.
