By CHRIS POLLARD, NEWS REPORTER Published: 00:58, 1 May 2026 | Updated: 00:58, 1 May 2026 Stab victim Shloime Rand has blamed the Government for failing to protect British Jews as he spoke of his 'miracle' survival following Wednesday's brutal attack. Mr Rand, 34, said some of his friends are 'scared to walk in the street' for fear of suffering violent anti-Semitism. He told the BBC from hospital: 'Statements from Downing Street that they will not tolerate any anti-Semitism is not enough. 'The tone they talk about what's going on has to be changed – and it has to be changed in a very different way to get the streets to be safe again. 'It's come to a point that people's lives are in danger. I have friends and people telling me they're scared to walk in the street, they don't know what's going on. 'People are afraid and now it's been taken to a new level. Maybe the Government will begin dealing with the problem properly.' Moshe Shine, 76, was one of two Jews stabbed in a north London terror attack on Wednesday morning Prime Minister Keir Starmer met members of Shomrim, the Jewish community security organisation, in Golders Green following yesterday's attack Your browser does not support iframes. Mr Rand told ITV of the attacker: 'He looked angry. You could feel it in his facial expressions, it was like he was out to get me.'  He was lunged at after leaving a synagogue in Golders Green, north London, shortly before lunchtime and suffered a knife injury to his chest. Mr Rand said: 'A very big miracle happened to me, I feel like God's given me back my life. 'I am really happy that it was only these injuries, it wasn't worse. 'I've a stab to my chest, and yes, my lungs have to recover. I hope I'll be better soon.' His sister, who asked not to be named, said she suffers anti-Semitic abuse weekly and added: 'It's sad people who are such contributing members of society are the ones getting hit, just because they're Jewish.' Moshe Shine, 76, the second man who was attacked 400 yards away, is recovering in hospital – with a friend saying his injuries were 'not too serious'.
