İstanbul", uluslararası sesleri bir araya getiriyor. İstanbul Arkeoloji Müzeleri bahçesinde gerçekleştirilen forumun açılış resepsiyonuna konuk olan Kültür ve Turizm Bakanı Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, forumun İstanbul edisyonunun hayata geçirilmesinin, Türkiye'nin kültürel vizyonunu ve yaratıcı endüstrilerdeki birikimini dünyayla paylaşması açısından önemli bir adım olduğu söyledi. İstanbul'un tarih boyunca tasarım, mimari ve zanaatın merkezi olduğuna işaret eden Ersoy, şehrin bugün de geçmişin mirasını geleceğin yaratıcı diliyle buluşturan bir ilham kaynağı olmayı sürdürdüğünü ifade etti. Bakan Ersoy, forumda dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen tasarımcıların ve sanatçıların bir araya geldiğini aktararak, "Şehir geneline yayılacak kolektif yerleştirmeler, görsel ve işitsel anlatılar, İstanbul'un sesini uluslararası bir sese dönüştürecek. Bu yılki program 'Mekan Üretimi', 'Anlatıcılık', 'Tartışma' ve 'Yeniden Düşünme' olmak üzere 4 başlık altında gerçekleştirilecek. 'İstanbullar' platformu İstanbul'un güçlü fikirlerini, üreticilerini ve mekanlarını bir araya getirerek şehrin yaratıcı enerjisini sergilemiş olacak." dedi. Yaratıcı ekonomilerin bugün ekonomik büyüme, şehir markalaşması ve toplumsal dönüşümün önemli unsurlarından biri haline geldiğinin altını çizen Ersoy, Türkiye'nin genç nüfusu, kültürel çeşitliliği ve yaratıcı potansiyeliyle bu dönüşümde önemli bir yere sahip olduğu değerlendirmesini yaptı. Bakanlık olarak kültürel mirasın korunması kadar çağdaş üretimin desteklenmesini de stratejik bir öncelik olarak gördüklerini söyleyen Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, şunları kaydetti: "Tasarım, mimarlık, yaratıcı endüstriler ve kültürel girişimcilik alanlarında ortaya çıkan her yeni fikir, Türkiye'nin kültürel diplomasisine ve marka değerine katkı sağlamaktadır. Bu forumun yapıldığı mekan da çok özel. Global Design Forum İstanbul'un gerçekleşmesinde emeği bulunan tüm paydaşlara teşekkür ediyorum. Özellikle bu önemli buluşmayı People Places Ideas işbirliğiyle hayata geçiren, aynı zamanda forumun artistik direktörlüğünü üstlenen değerli sanatçı ve tasarımcı Melek Zeynep Bulut başta olmak üzere katkı sunan herkesi kutluyorum. Global Design Forum İstanbul ve London Design Festival Kurucusu Ben Evans da Global Design Forum İstanbul kapsamında farklı ülkelerden tasarımcı ve yaratıcı toplulukları bir araya getirerek güçlü bir diyalog ortamı oluşturmayı hedeflediklerini anlattı. İstanbul'da düzenlenen etkinliğin kendileri için büyük mutluluk ve heyecan kaynağı olduğunu belirten Evans, şehrin tarihi atmosferi ve enerjisinin ilham verici olduğunu ifade etti. Program kapsamında iki gün boyunca farklı etkinliklerin gerçekleştirileceğini aktaran Evans, İstanbul'un dünyaya anlatılması gereken güçlü bir tasarım ve yaratıcılık hikayesine sahip olduğunu kaydetti. Global Design Forum İstanbul'un Artistik Direktörü Melek Zeynep Bulut ise forum kapsamında tasarım, sanat ve düşünce dünyasından isimleri buluşturan kapsamlı bir program gerçekleştirileceğini söyledi. İstanbul'un tarih boyunca farklı fikirlerin doğduğu canlı bir merkez olduğunu vurgulayan Bulut, forumun katılımcıları hızla değişen dünyada ortak sorumluluklar üzerine düşünmeye davet ettiği görüşünü paylaştı. Program kapsamında şehir genelinde düzenlenecek enstalasyonlar, kamusal etkinlikler ve disiplinler arası sohbetlerle tasarım kültürünün farklı yönlerinin ele alınacağına işaret eden Bulut, destekleri için Kültür ve Turizm Bakanlığına teşekkür etti. Forumun İstanbul edisyonu bugün üniversiteler ve tasarım stüdyolarının katılımıyla hazırlanan kamusal yerleştirmeler ve şehrin 40 farklı üretim noktasını listeleyen "İstanbullar" platformunun açılışıyla başladı. Topkapı Sarayı'nda 14-15 Mayıs'ta yapılacak oturumlarda ise tasarımın güncel uygulama alanları ve çevresel etkileri ele alınacak. Etkinlik süresince Waugh Thistleton Architects tarafından ahşap malzeme ile tasarlanan "A Pavilion the Moment" yerleştirmesi ve Aya İrini'nin avlusunda NUN Architecture tarafından kurulan forum alanı ziyarete açık olacak. Barın Han, Zeyrek Çinili Hamam ve Zeytinburnu Mozaik Müzesi gibi mekanların dahil edildiği program, 16 Mayıs'ta Yedikule bölgesinde düzenlenecek uluslararası bir bahçe yarışmasının duyurusu ile tamamlanacak.
