Girl, three, is found dead at home in Surrey: Man, 31, arrested on suspicion of murder

The child's body was discovered at a home in Chertsey on Thursday after officers responded to a 'concern for safety'. A 31-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.  He was rushed to hospital after being seriously injured and will be taken into custody after treatment, police said. Officers said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.  A murder probe has now been launched by Surrey Police.  A spokesperson for the force said they believe the incident 'took place within a family setting'.  The Senior Investigating Officer from the major crime team said: 'This is a tragic incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened.  'We have made an arrest in connection with this incident and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation.  The child's body was discovered at a home on Pycroft Road in Chertsey after officers responded to a 'concern for safety' 'We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public. 'There is a significant police presence in Pyrcroft Road and this will remain over the coming days.  'We appreciate that the incident itself, as well as the significant police presence, will be concerning for local residents and we would like to thank them for their cooperation as we conduct our investigation.  'We will provide further updates as soon as we are in a position to.'
